I went to Westwood just to check out the Giants after reading about their quality and bang for the buck. I wanted a 2012 Defy 2 composite which are pretty scarce and after trying the 2013, I was hooked. Different colors, but that was the only downside. I do not write reviews, but Westwood deserves cudos. Clark showed me the bike first and the owners actually fitted me and Allen (one of the Owners) let me take it for a few test rides while he tweaked the bike setup. He spent a couple of hours with me to get my ride perfect. There was no rush or hard sell at all. Overall, I will not take my family to another bike shop, period. I see why they have been in business so long.
Almost bought another bike but then I saw this bike. The all carbon frame is very smooth and really makes long rides a pleasure. The staff took the time to fine tune the bike for my size and needs. Will definately come back and do more business there.
After putting nearly 6,000 miles on this bike's cheaper, aluminum cousin, a 2011 Defy 3, I was blown away by the smoothness, speed, and handling of this bike. The vibration damping is great, but it comes at no cost to speed. I've clocked 100 mile days and 10 mile sprints without a loss of enthusiasm. The combination of light weight carbon frame and Sram apex components makes this the best carbon endurance bike on the market. Giant's lifetime guarantee on the carbon frame is another consideration, if like me, you plan to keep the bike for a long time. And finally, the black, red, and white paint scheme is gorgeous. I couldn't be happier.
First off I have a disclaimer; when it comes to any sport that requires you to make the equipment an extension of your body, it all comes down to personal comfort and what you are trying to accomplish. With that said I am 47, raced road back in the late 80's and was looking to get back into a road bike to stay in shape for other sports. I was also tired of hauling my mountain bike to distant trails. I was looking for quality, comfort (vibration), climbing and long distance with a $2000 budget. I was also looking for a shop that could answer all my questions and provide the necessary support needed for the many fitting changes that would come over time. Let me say that [...] and their staff provided the best experience out of all the bike shops in the greater [...] area. The owner even got involved when he saw that I was at a crossroads and was super patient with me. I had one top bike shop in [...] just out right tell me they did not have a bike that met my needs and told me I should go elsewhere after 5 minutes of Q&A. I did six months of research before I made my purchase and this was the most bang for the buck. Great entry-level carbon that offers more than any of its competition. It has far exceeded my performance expectations and is faster than I would have anticipated for its geometry. Super comfortable, great climber (The gear ratio is stupid :}), and just the right responsiveness to push it when feeling good. The vibration dampening built into this frame does not disappoint. I have been riding it for a few months now and [...] has made many adjustments that have improved my comfort and performance at no charge. I am very happy with this machine and it has more potential than I do. No matter what your level of riding, [...] is the shop that will leave you satisfied and not feeling like a dope.
